Rieger weekend is coming soon!

I cannot seem to find the time to update the blog. I know with Steven's grandfather passing, it's been a difficult time for his entire family (and me too) and my family took it hard as well. Who didn't love Cubby?!? I know I speak for everyone: that we truly appreciate all of the kind thoughts, words of sympathy and encouragement, and showing of support over these past few weeks. We needed it!

Now, I am all consumned by baby Alex. Our friends Beth and Jason's 2-week old, Alex, is currently in John's Hopkins Hospital. He had a seizure and they've found a blood clot, but they are still trying to determine the cause and treatment plan. We are very worried and doing a lot of praying for them. I can't imagine what they must be going thru. If you are reading this, please say a prayer for them!

And what's up with Dylan? Well, he's 11 months old as of this past Sunday. He's still teething and drooling all the time. He crawls around the house at mock-speed. And, of course, he is an absolute angel from heaven! He's been going to bed so easily and waking up so happy every day; he's such a joy to be around, and you know I love that! I love my husband too! We met for lunch today and I had a crabcake sandwich at Mike's crabhouse. We sat at a table next to the water and we fed the ducks... or tried to feed the ducks and ended up feeding some Carp and Rockfish too. It's such a beautiful day today !

OK, so here are the pictures from when we got together with some of Steven's family over the weekend:

And here are the pictures of us with the rainbows, yes, there were TWO of them!

Walter Ray Cubbage, Sr.

Steven's grandfather, Walter, (better known as Walt, Pop, or Cubby) passed away on Monday evening. He was 90 years old. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.

Walter R. Cubbage, Sr. of Neeld Estate, Huntingtown, MD. passed away at home on June 16, 2008 with his family by his side. Preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Josephine E. Cubbage. Loving father of Walter (Bud) Jr. (Cherry), Dorothy Oliver (Brent). Grandfather of Michael Oliver (Debbie), Steven Oliver (Suzanne), Amy Cronin (Tim), Anna Mitchell (Todd), Sarah and Andrew Cubbage. Great-Grandfather of Kaleigh and Connor Cronin, Dylan Oliver, Glen (Karen), Shannon and Tracy Hudson. Great-Great Grandfather of Mathew and Morgan Hudson. Walt was born to Henry and Ethel Cubbage on December 24, 1917, on a farm in Stanley, VA., he was one of 11 children.

He fought in World War II and saw a lot of action during the war. When the campaign of New Georgia in the South Pacific was under way, his unit was cut off by the enemy for 5 days, without food or water. They had over 132 casualties and many wounded. His job during the war was bulldozer operator and he took his bulldozer and cut a road thru the jungle so help could arrive. He did this under very heavy gunfire. When he was finished his bulldozer was riddled with bullets, but he was unharmed. He was awarded the Silver Star Medal, the military's third highest medal for his actions that day, and later received a Commendation for Outstanding Service, honors he was very proud of, but being the humble man that he was, he never spoke of it.

Through the years he remained friends with his Army buddies and they would meet for lunch the first Tuesday of the month at Tucker's Restaurant in Upper Marlboro. He retired from the Washington Star Newspaper Co. and later worked many years delivering papers for the Calvert Independent Newspaper in Prince Frederick. He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Huntingtown, MD. An avid golfer, woodworker, community volunteer and all around good guy.

Walt loved his family, his church, his friends, his Army buddies, his neighbors, his country and living in Neeld Estate. He was truly a blessed man, but we were the ones who were blessed by knowing him and having him in our lives.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 19, 2008 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the Rausch Funeral Home, Owings, MD.

A Funeral Service will be held Friday, June 20, 2008 at 10:00 AM in Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Huntingtown, MD.

Interment will follow in the Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD at 2:00 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to Emmanuel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 484, Huntingtown, MD 20639 and / or Calvert Hospice, P.O. Box 838, Prince Frederick, MD 20678

Shawn & Family visit from Florida!

Shawn, my best friend since elementary school, came to visit us last Monday. She and her husband, Tony, brought their son Aaron and daughter Audrey. This was the first time I had met Audrey and she's almost 2 and Aaron is 6. My mom stopped by and we all hung out for a few hours. It was GREAT to see them!

I gave Dylan a bath last Tuesday when he had a temperature of 103.6. Clearly, he is unaware. Fever came right down with bath and Motrin and I FINALLY got some photos and video of him in the bath. I've been dying to capture the shampoo mohawk. Enjoy!

Father's Day 2008

Happy 1st Father's Day Steven!

We spent most of our day in the car returning from Brooke & Brad's wedding in PA, picking up Dylan and Roxy and then heading to 'the county' to visit Pop. Steven got a few cards, but we didn't get a chance to dote on him properly for his big day. We'll have to make it up to him!

Thanks to MOM and DAVE for taking care of our little man so we could attend the out of town wedding. I know he was a handful because he is a teething mad-man! A reeaallly cute one, though! We really appreciate it!

Here is a nice shot of Dylan and his Aunt Emily...

3rd Anniversary!

Here is a nice shot of Steven and I. We went to Ruth's Chris Steakhouse and had a wonderful meal and also had a nice time celebrating our milestone! We hope to be together for at least three more (days) Hahahahaha ;)

Memorial Day/Weekend

We had Mike (Steven's brother) and his friends come to visit from Michigan and that was a really fun time. We had awesome weather and 'the men' went charter fishing and caught a ton of Rockfish. YUM. We also spent some quality time with the rest of the family too, which was really nice. Apparently, Dylan doesn't seem to like the beach or the Bay?? How is that possible??

We spent Sunday with Peepo and G-Daddy (my Mom and Dave) at Pirates Cove in Galesville and it was a RGT (Rockin' Good Time)!

Here is a great photo of Dylan and his Uncle Mike:

HERE ARE THE PHOTOS FROM THE WEEKEND!!!

AND SOME VIDEO from Pirates Cove...
