MORE DEEGAN...

OH DEEGAN

OK, well I came here to add pictures and GUESS WHAT! I maxed out my space for pictures. Not sure what to do about that... stay tuned.

Yes, we had a baby.. a BOY!

Welcome DEEGAN!

OK, so it was over a month ago and I'm just now updating the blog... sorry gang!

Here are his stats:
Deegan Michael Oliver
Born July 24, 2009 at 5:49 pm
6 lbs 10 oz, 19.5 inches

Background: If you didn't already know, I had been home on bedrest since June 23rd for pre-term contractions. I went to the hospital a few times and was given some drugs to stop the contractions, but my cervix didn't change, so I wasn't 'really' in labor... I was just having contractions every 3-5 minutes. Let me tell you, that was not fun. Neither were the hemerroids. OK, I said it. I had a procedure done on one and it was pretty awful... well, beyone awful but I'll spare everyone the details. Anyway, I called the OB to see if it was OK to take the pain killers the other doc gave me and after discussing other options (like a c-section to avoid pushing) my group of doctors got together and decided it was best to just go ahead and induce labor. I had an amniocentesis done to make sure the baby's lungs were mature (they were) and the induction was a go for the next day.

D-Day: The induction went smoothly. My mom was there along with Dorothy and Amy. It took a bit longer than I thought it would, but once my water was broken, the baby was born within 2 hours. It was such a different delivery than Dylan's... no pain at ALL. Man, I loved that!! I let the nurse know I was feeling some pressure and she came to check me and I was a '10' all we had to do was wait for the doctor to arrive and for the room to be prepped. This picture is of us just before I started pushing...
AND it only took ONE push for the baby to be born... Steven screamed "ITS A BOY!!"... I think we were both pretty shocked at how fast it went!! I pushed for a 1/2 hour with Dylan, so one push was entirely unexpected, but pretty thrilling. He looked so small, but he cried right away. It was a great cry, but not nearly as loud as Dylan was when he was born.

OK, so without further ado... here is a picture or two from Deegan's Birthday...

I love the one with the little smile and the ones with the 'please no more photos' paparrazi hand.

Enjoy!

Baby#2 - New Sonogram Photos!

Hello! So, I am 26 weeks and 6 days as of today and the baby measured at 26 weeks 5 days, so pretty close to perfect!! The tech said he/she weighs about 2 lbs 2 oz right now and all of the measurements came out great. We (me, Auntie Amy & Dylan) got to see the heart and the kidneys, we got to hear the heartbeat (about 150bpm) etc.

I was there so they could keep an eye on my fibroids. They said there are a couple on the inside of the uterus, but they are so small they are not even worth mentioning... the other one is on the outside of my uterus. That's the 'big' one an it's like 2cmx3cm. I think that's still small for a fibroid. BUT, it has calcified since the last pregnancy, so that is why it is bothering me more. The best way I can think of explaining how it feels is that it's similar to having a rock in your shoe that you can't get rid of... it's annoying/uncomfortable and maybe at the end of the day it does start to hurt, but for the most part it's uncomfortable, not painful.

OK, so without further ado, here are the sonogram shots! Enjoy! So, do you think the baby looks more girl or boy??? We still don't know. I go back again on June 11th... our 4 year anniversary!

Dylan 1st Haircut (at Salon) 4/28

I KNOW! I'M WAY BEHIND ON THE BLOG

I got a new job!!!! I am super happy about it and looking forward to starting on May 11th. Until then, I've been on a mad dash to complete some around-the-house projects.
Dylan is all moved into his new big-boy room, but he's still sleeping in the pack-n-play and not in the toddler bed yet, but he LOVES his new room. I did another water/nautical themed room for him and it turned out great. My mom and I did all the painting and I hand painted all the waves on the wall too, you'll see!

So, the new nursery is coming along too. With all of Dylan's nautical theme items now in his new room, I got to do a circus theme in the 'new' baby's room. I got a bunch of steals at ikea and I think the new room looks great too.

Dylan got his 1st big-boy haircut yesterday (4/28) !!
He did great at the salon and the cut looks so cute! It is such a HUGE difference!

OK, so that's it for me. I'm feeling good. Headaches are gone and I'm 6 months along now and looking forward to meeting the new addition in August! Please take care and I hope you all are well. I'm uploading pics now, so I should be adding them later this evening. Suzanne

12-Week Sonogram Pics

We went in and got a 12-week sonogram done today. It was for a test called 'Nuchal Translucency.' The NT test measures the clear (translucent) space in the tissue at the back of the developing baby's neck. Babies with abnormalities tend to accumulate more fluid at the back of their neck during the first trimester, causing this clear space to be larger than average.

Anyway, our little muffin's clear space was VERY small. He/She is already a mover and a shaker, waving at us and flipping all around making the sonographers job very difficult. She/He also got the hiccups during the scan. Isn't that crazy? 12 weeks and this kid's got the hiccups?!?

Anyway, here are the two sonogram pics we got to bring home... he/she is still all head and belly, but was saw hands, legs, feet, and a nice spine too!

WARD... Party of Four!

So, Tracy finally managed to evict the little procrastinator on Saturday! Hooray! I was glad to do my part as Lucas's babysitter. I went up there thinking I'd get to sleep in and hang out and do NOTHING all day, but Garrett had other plans!
